Lemon essential oil purifies and cleans with its antimicrobial properties, supports healthy respiratory function, and it is known for improving and uplifting people’s mood and immune system.

  1. Diffuse to purify the air.
  2. Use it internally for immune support, just add a few drops to a glass of water every morning.
  3. Add it when making your own household cleaners.
  4. Place a few drops on your air filter to help cleanse the air in your home.

Lemon Essential Oil Diffuser Recipes

Choose an oil blend from the recipes below and add to your diffuser, fill the rest of the way with distilled water. Follow your diffuser’s instructions for water capacity.

Energizing Morning

  • 3 drops lemon oil
  • 3 drops orange oil
  • 2 drops breath blend

Fresh and Clean

  • 3 drops of lemon oil
  • 3 drops of tea tree oil
  • 2 drops of Lime oil

Spring Time

  • 3 drops of lemon oil
  • 3 drops of grapefruit oil
  • 2 drops geranium oil

Roller Bottle Blends For Topical Use

When making roller bottle blends add each essential oil to a 10mL amber glass bottle, then top off with a carrier oil. I personally use fractionated coconut oil, but you could also use witch hazel. Secure the rollerball, tighten lid and shake well. Use multiple times a day as needed.

  • 7 drops lemon oil
  • 7 drops copaiba oil
  • 7 drops frankincense oil

Allergy Relief

  • 7 drops lemon oil
  • 7 drops peppermint oil
  • 7 drops lavender oil

  • 7 drops lemon oil
  • 7 drops frankincense oil
  • 7 drops lavender oil

DIY Natural Cleaning Products With Lemon Essential Oil

To make these DIY non-toxic cleaners simply add all ingredients to a 16oz amber glass bottle and fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water.

Make sure to shake well before each use.

All Purpose Cleaner

20 drops lemon essential oil

20 drops tea tree oil

2 Tbls castille soap

Wood Polish Spray

10 drops lemon or orange essential oil

1/4 cup olive oil

1/4 cup white vinegar

Window Cleaner

10 drops lemon essential oil

1/2 cup of isopropyl alcohol

Precautions When Using Lemon Essential Oil Recipes

Like most citrus oils, lemon essential oil is a photosensitive oil. With that in mind, if you are using it topically as part of your skincare, avoid direct sunlight or UV rays for 12 hours after application.

Skin irritation is the most common side effect. Be sure to always do a skin patch test before using topically.

Make sure to consult with your doctor before use if you have an ongoing medical condition, or if you are pregnant or nursing.

Always keep essential oils away from the reach of children and pets.

There are many reputable essential oil companies. When choosing a brand make sure they disclose the botanical name, country of origin, how the oil is sourced, and complete transparency of testing results.

You should also look for quality ID number ( or batch ID number), and the expiration date printed on each bottle.
