Elderberry Syrup For Immune Support

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup dried elderberries
  • 3 cups of water
  • 2 tbsp fresh or dry ginger root or 2 drops ginger essential oil
  • 3 cinnamon sticks or 2 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
  • 1 tsp ground clove or 2 drops clove essential oil
  • 2 drops wild orange essential oil
  • ¾ cup raw honey

Method
 

  1. Add water, elderberries, ginger, cinnamon sticks, and ground clove to a saucepan.
  2. Bring to high temp just before it starts to boil, and reduce heat. Simmer covered on low heat for 30 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool for about 40 minutes.
  4. Over the saucepan, mash the elderberries down with a strainer so they release all the juices
  5. Remove berries, ginger root, and cinnamon sticks.
  6. Once Liquid is completly cool, add raw honey and essential oils
  7. Bottle in an airtight container and keep in the fridge for up to four months. Shake well before each use.

Notes

You can interchange between fresh spices and essential oils depending on what you have on hand. Just make sure to add essential oils when liquid has cooled down.
Never add the raw honey when liquid is still hot because it will loose its natural antibiotic properties.
